Terms and Conditions for Booking and Use of Bryggen Sauna AS ♨️

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings and use of facilities provided by Bryggen Sauna AS. By completing a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms.

Bryggen Sauna offers waterfront sauna experiences. Use of the sauna, swimming facilities, and related amenities is at the guest's own risk and subject to these Terms and Conditions.

2. The Parties

Customer:
The person making the booking and/or using the services.

3. Booking and Payment

  • Bookings are made through Bryggen Sauna’s booking system or by special arrangement.
  • A reservation becomes binding once the customer receives a booking confirmation.
  • All prices are stated in Norwegian Kroner (NOK) and include VAT where applicable.
  • Bryggen Sauna reserves the right to correct any obvious pricing, technical, or system errors.

4. Cancellations and Changes

Private Bookings

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled booking time are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled booking time are eligible for a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled booking time are not eligible for a refund.

Private Events and Group Bookings

Different cancellation terms may apply to events, corporate bookings, and exclusive reservations. Any such terms will be specified in the booking confirmation or separate agreement.

5. Age Requirement

  • Guests must be at least 18 years old to make a reservation.
  • Persons under the age of 18 may only use the facilities when accompanied by a responsible adult or with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

6. Health and Safety

Use of the sauna involves exposure to high temperatures and, where applicable, cold-water immersion.

Guests are responsible for assessing their own health and fitness before using the facilities.

Individuals with, but not limited to:

  • cardiovascular disease
  • high or low blood pressure
  • epilepsy
  • serious respiratory conditions
  • pregnancy
  • any medical condition that may be affected by heat or cold exposure

are advised to consult a medical professional before use.

If any discomfort, dizziness, or other adverse symptoms occur, guests should leave the sauna immediately.

7. Swimming and Use of the Waterfront Area

Swimming is entirely at the guest's own risk.

Bryggen Sauna provides access to the sea but does not provide lifeguards or continuous supervision of the swimming area. The facility is self-service.

All guests are responsible for:

  • assessing weather and sea conditions
  • evaluating their own swimming ability
  • exercising caution when using ladders, docks, and bathing areas
  • respecting local conditions, including currents, waves, and water temperatures

Bryggen Sauna cannot be held liable for injuries, accidents, or incidents occurring in connection with swimming or movement in and around the water.

Life buoys and basic first-aid equipment are available within the sauna facility.

8. Alcohol, Intoxicants, and Unacceptable Behaviour

To ensure the safety of all guests:

  • Alcohol is not permitted in the sauna or on Bryggen Sauna premises.
  • The use of illegal drugs or other intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited.
  • Individuals who appear intoxicated may be denied entry or removed from the premises without refund.
  • Threatening, violent, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.

Bryggen Sauna reserves the right to terminate a guest's session if the safety of guests, staff, or facilities is considered at risk.

9. Sauna Rules

To ensure a pleasant experience for all guests:

  • Shower before use whenever facilities allow.
  • Swimwear or a towel must be worn in accordance with on-site guidelines.
  • A towel must always be used when sitting or lying on benches.
  • Only fresh water may be poured onto the sauna heater.
  • Glass bottles and glass objects are not permitted.
  • Guests must follow all instructions provided on-site.

10. Personal Belongings

Guests store personal belongings at their own risk.

Bryggen Sauna accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to clothing, electronics, jewellery, valuables, or other personal property.

11. Damage and Liability

Guests are responsible for any damage resulting from negligent or improper use of the sauna, furniture, dock facilities, or other property.

Bryggen Sauna reserves the right to recover documented repair or replacement costs from the responsible individual.

12. Operational Interruptions and Force Majeure

Bryggen Sauna reserves the right to close facilities or cancel bookings when necessary due to:

  • safety concerns
  • technical failures
  • power outages
  • severe weather
  • ice conditions
  • government orders or restrictions
  • other circumstances beyond the company's reasonable control

If Bryggen Sauna cancels a booking, the customer will be offered either a rescheduled booking or a full refund of the amount paid.

13. Limitation of Liability

Bryggen Sauna is responsible for its services in accordance with mandatory provisions of Norwegian law.

Bryggen Sauna is not liable for:

  • injuries resulting from a guest's failure to follow instructions or safety guidelines
  • injuries occurring while swimming or using the waterfront area
  • matters related to a guest's own health condition
  • indirect losses or consequential damages

Guests use the sauna, dock facilities, waterfront area, and all related amenities entirely at their own risk.

14. Privacy

Bryggen Sauna processes personal data in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection legislation.

Personal information is used solely for booking administration, customer service, payment processing, and other lawful purposes related to the operation of the business.

15. Complaints and Disputes

Any complaints should be reported to Bryggen Sauna as soon as reasonably possible after the incident.

Any disputes that cannot be resolved through dialogue between the parties shall be governed by Norwegian law and subject to the jurisdiction of Norwegian courts.
